Why Board Certification Matters
Credibility. Knowledge. Trust. Experience. Authority.
What do these words have in common? They are all traits you look for when you’re going in “for a fight”. Not a literal fist to cuffs fight, but a fight for which you may need a lawyer, a doctor, or an accountant. If you’re being sued, receive a life threatening health diagnosis, or get a visit from the IRS, you seek out the best, right? Why wouldn’t you seek out the best for your body?
Did you know that there is a distinction between someone who is a practicing nutritionist and a Board Certified Nutritionist? There is… a very big difference. Our planet is changing. Food is genetically modified, pesticides are rampant, chemicals and toxins are found in your home from you household cleaning supplies to your tap water. Risks for your health and wellbeing are at an all time high. Food allergies and intolerances, outrageous numbers of children on the spectrum and adults with autoimmune diseases are off the charts. Your body, your health is either in or potentially destined for a fight!
Now that you have the big picture of the “boxing ring” in your health reality, the question is, who do you want in your corner? A Board Certified Nutritionist! Here’s why:
To earn this valuable designation, you must demonstrate an exceptional level of knowledge and understanding of holistic nutrition by sitting through a board exam and in documenting client contact hours
Becoming “Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition®” demonstrates that you have achieved the highest level of professional recognition and validation of your knowledge and experience in the holistic nutrition industry.
Board certification indicates that you meet the educational and ethical standards required by a professional credentialing body.
Board certification proves that you are aware of and conduct your business within your legal scope of service and standards of professional conduct.
You have achieved the highest credential offered in your field!
Individuals wishing to become “Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition®” must provide documentation of the following qualifying criteria:
Meet the NANP’s educational standards. This means successful completion of studies in holistic nutrition from a NANP approved holistic nutrition program OR providing documentation of an occupational certification, degree or diploma that meets the NANP’s educational standards
Professional membership in the NANP.
Provide documentation of 500 hours (includes a minimum of 250 direct contact hours and up to 250 indirect contact hours) of professional experience in holistic nutrition.
